First of all, everyone of us are evaluating just like when we do a research--we are evaluating informations we found before we rely on it. Just like in creating a new website. In order for us to create not just a normal website, but a great website, we also do evaluation in the use of web evaluation. But what is web evaluation?

This is where you can get iformations about the website by following these procedures:

First, the Authority
You can ask yourself about who is making the information available? What are their credentials? Is the publisher an official source, or at least a reliable source, or is it someone whose bias may affect the accuracy or reliability of the information? If you cannot tell who is responsible for the information, you should hesitate to use it unless you can otherwise confirm its reliability.

Next is Objectivity.
You should think about the motivation of the author to create the page. Also, a good site must be fair, balanced, and objective.

Accuracy.
Before you rely on information, you must be sure that it is complete and accurate. Errors can occur even if a website is authoritative and unbiased. If you find information that is full of typographical errors and broken links, you should look for the information you need from a better source.

Currency.
You must check the web's currency (date created, published, modified, updated, or revised). If there is no statement about currency, you will have to find a way to be sure your information is up to date.

Lastly, Coverage.
The site should contribute something unique to the topic being researched on. Oversimplified or generalized information may not be appropriate for an academic audience.

Now, let's move on to the relevance of web evaluation in creating a new website. Web evaluation may help a lot about creating a great website. It is one of the way to acheive that "great" website.
